What is Pipe Relining?
Pipe Relining allows the rehabilitation of existing sewer or drain pipes without the need of digging up the entire length of the pipe and replacing it.
Pipe Relining uses a felt material soaked in a epoxy or vinyl ester resin and is inflated with air and inserted into existing pipe until the resin hardens. The result is a new pipe inside the old pipe. This new inner-pipe has a 50 year life expectancy.
Pipe Relining Process (In steps)
The first step before pipe relining installation is to perform a sewer video camera inspection of your sewer or drain pipes.
During our sewer camera inspection we will determine the amount of footage, diameter of sewer pipe, defects in pipe such as cracks, tree roots, offsets, bellies, etc. Our technician will also determine at this time if your sewer or drain pipe can be lined based off their findings.
The 2nd step is to clean out your sewer or drain pipes. Depending on sewer camera inspection results there are a variety of cleaning methods. A couple of these methods used to clean the sewer or drain pipes are Hydro Jetting and Pipe Descaling.
Both of these methods will remove roots, buildup, and blockages to prep for Pipe Relining installation.
After the first 2 steps are completed and the sewer drain pipe is cleaned, the pipe is ready for pipe relining. The correct diameter felt material is chosen and cut to the length measured from step 1 during the sewer camera inspection. The felt material is saturated with either vinyl or epoxy resin and inserted into the existing sewer or drain line.
Once installed a inflatable bladder is blown into the felt material to keep the felt material against the existing pipe until the resin is cured in place. After the resin has cured, the bladder is removed and a your new sewer drain line is installed inside your old existing line.
This step may be required if there is other branch sewer or drain lines that were covered during the pipe relining installation. Using our robotic cutter we can re-open these covered tie-ins / branch lines. Our technician will determine if there are branch lines that are connecting to your sewer and drain line and if they will need to be cut open after lining installation is performed.
